About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Darbar is where people slow down, eat well, sleep better, and spend time without rushing. It’s not about luxury in the traditional sense, it’s about feeling taken care of. Most guests leave saying the same thing — “I didn’t realize how much I needed this.”

Our Story
We didn’t start with a plan to build a hotel.
We started with an 80-year-old Garhwali haveli just outside Chamba, crumbling but full of character, and a shared belief that it deserved a second life (and Of course it was Pandemic year), we had time in hand and life in a quieter stand.
One of us grew up in hospitality, the other in brand building. We met by chance in the hills, walked through the broken stone corridors of the haveli, and decided to restore it without turning it into yet another hotel/homestay.
Stone by stone, room by room, Darbar took shape — part heritage, part farm, part family home. Along the way we discovered the region’s food traditions, local crafts, mountain herbs, and the slow pace of Garhwal village life. We planted orchards, cultivated vegetables, and began serving what we grew.
Today Darbar is still run the same way it began — but more personally, quietly, without theatrics. Guests move through spaces we’ve carefully restored, taste what our farm and region offer, follow trails we’ve discovered over the years, and are hosted by a team that has grown with this place.
It’s not hospitality from a manual. It’s hospitality from an experience — one that simply chose to stay true to the hills it belongs to.
